Frequently asked questions
What does Vision Guardian actually detect?
Ten detection types: People Count, Someone at Your Door, Vehicle Detected, Package Delivery, Garage Door, Garbage Truck, Animals, Smoking, Lights On (Unoccupied), and Weather Hazard, plus a Security Alert detector for visible signs of property damage.
How do I sign in to Vision Guardian?
Vision Guardian signs you in through Ring — there's no separate Vision Guardian account or password. Open the app and follow the prompts to authorize access through Ring's official login page; your Ring password is never entered into Vision Guardian directly. If you're ever signed out, open the Ring app and tap Vision Guardian to sign back in the same way.
Why am I not getting notifications for some events?
Two common causes: your per-camera notification preferences may have that detector turned off, or Ring's own Smart Alerts setting is filtering the motion before it reaches us. See the Tips page for the Smart Alerts fix.
What is Quiet Hours?
A setting that pauses all push notifications during a time window you choose — useful overnight so alerts don't wake you. It automatically wraps past midnight if your start hour is later than your end hour.
What can I ask the AI Camera Chat?
Anything about your recorded events from the last 30 days — "What happened today?", "Was my garage door left open?", "Any packages delivered this week?" It can't see a live camera feed or analyze images in real time, only recorded detection results.
Are there any usage limits?
To keep the service reliable for everyone, AI motion analysis is capped at 200 events per camera per day, and AI Camera Chat at 30 messages per day. Both limits reset at midnight your local time.
Is my camera footage stored?
No. Snapshots are sent directly to our AI for analysis and are not stored after processing. Only the detection result (e.g. "2 people detected") is saved to your event history.
I have cameras at more than one property — can I connect them all?
Yes. After your first Ring Location is connected, open the Ring app, go to My Apps (or Partner Settings), find Vision Guardian, and tap Connect More to authorize an additional Location's cameras — this step happens in the Ring app, not Vision Guardian. Then tap Sync in Vision Guardian to pull them in; they'll show up grouped under their own Location heading in Manage Cameras. Disconnecting Ring removes all connected Locations at once, so you'd need to reconnect each one again if you do.
How do I disconnect or delete my account?
Go to Settings → Disconnect Ring Account to remove Ring access, or Settings → Delete Account to permanently remove all your data. Note that disconnecting in Vision Guardian only stops camera analysis — it does not cancel your subscription. Since billing is handled by Ring, you'll need to cancel separately through the Ring App Store to stop being charged.
