Set up Vision Guardian

1. Connect your Ring account

Vision Guardian signs you in through Ring — there's no separate Vision Guardian password to create. Install from the Ring App Store (or open the app from your Ring app's integrations list) and approve access on Ring's official login page; you're redirected back into Vision Guardian automatically, fully signed in.

2. Sync your cameras

After connecting, Vision Guardian pulls in every camera on your Ring account. Tap Sync any time from the dashboard after adding a new Ring device — the first sync can take up to a minute while devices are imported.

Have cameras at more than one property? Adding a second Ring Location has to start on Ring's side, not ours: open the Ring app, go to My Apps (or Partner Settings), find Vision Guardian, and tap Connect More to grant access to that Location's cameras. Then return to Vision Guardian and tap Sync — the new cameras will appear grouped under their own Location heading in Manage Cameras. Note: disconnecting Ring from Vision Guardian removes every connected Location at once, not just one, so you'd need to reconnect each Location again afterward.

3. Choose what each camera detects

Open Manage Cameras to set each camera's type — Doorbell, Garage, Indoor, or Outdoor. The type determines which detectors run: Doorbell adds package detection, Garage adds door open/closed state, and Indoor/Outdoor run people, vehicle, and animal detection. You can disable monitoring per camera to save on analysis.

Vision Guardian supports ten detection types: People Count, Someone at Your Door, Vehicle Detected, Package Delivery, Garage Door, Garbage Truck, Animals, Smoking, Lights On (Unoccupied), Weather Hazard, and Security Alert.

4. Set up notifications

Tap the gear icon on any camera to choose which detectors send push notifications and set a people-count threshold. In Settings, turn on Quiet Hours to pause all notifications during a time window you choose — handy overnight so alerts don't wake you.

5. Use AI Camera Chat & Digest

Tap the blue chat bubble on the Cameras or Events screen to ask questions about your recorded events — "What happened today?" or "Any packages delivered this week?" Chat only answers from recorded events; it can't see a live feed. Configure how often you receive a narrated Digest summary from Settings.

6. Troubleshooting

Camera shows offline: this means Ring itself reports the camera unreachable — check battery, Wi-Fi, or power in the Ring app directly.

Not getting notifications: confirm push notifications are enabled in iPhone Settings → Vision Guardian, and check your per-camera notification preferences. See the Tips page for common causes of missed detections.

7. Manage your account

Go to Settings → Disconnect Ring Account to remove Ring access at any time, or Settings → Delete Account to permanently remove your data. See the full Privacy Policy for details on data retention.

Note that disconnecting in Vision Guardian only stops camera analysis — it does not cancel your subscription. Since billing is handled by Ring, you'll need to cancel separately through the Ring App Store to stop being charged.
